The forklift is an essential piece of machine in most businesses which operate warehouses, distribution centers, industrial and storage handling plants. This wonder equipment, the lift truck is made of numerous parts, including the important carriage, the engine, the power source and the wheels. Lift trucks usually have a variety of attachments as well. The following are some of the most essential components of a lift truck.
Engine of the Lift Truck - At the back of the machinery, the forklift has its power source. The various types of engine on the forklift will need varying power sources. For example, a lift truck with an internal combustion engine could have as its power source any of the following: diesel, gasoline, CNG gas or LP gas. Electric motor lift trucks receive their power from a battery or fuel cells.
Truck Frame - The frame of the truck is the base of the forklift and the most essential of all the lift truck parts. This forms the machine's core. All other parts of a forklift are connected to the base, like for example the counterweight, overhead guard, mast, wheels and axles. Fuel and hydraulic fluid tanks may also be part of the frame assembly.
Counterweight Forklift Parts - the counterweight is what allows the equipment to be balanced while carrying heavy loads. This part is made of heavy cast iron and is attached to the rear-end of the forklift truck. The counterbalance balances the truck frame so as to prevent it from tipping over when a load is being carried or lifted on the front. In an electric forklift, the heavy lead-acid battery provides balance and can work as part of the counterweight.
The Cab Area - this part is where the operator sits and drives the equipment. Some forklifts have a cab area which is open to the air and some have closed cabs. There are really a lot of components located in the cab for operating the forks. The cab contains such important components like for example the levers, switches, operator controls, steering wheel, pedals and seats. The dashboard has operator readouts.
