Forklift Battery Safety
The power to run electric lift trucks is provided by large industrial batteries which need to be charged frequently and maintained properly. Safety procedures should always be followed while connecting the battery to the charger. It is essential to check fluid levels in the battery.
Personal Protective Equipment - PPE
It is vital for workers working with a forklift battery to wear eye protection. Other PPG comprise safety glasses, goggles, or a full face shield. The best way to protect skin and clothing from other residue or leaked acid is to wear thick rubber gloves on the hands and an approved apron on the body.
Emergency Eyewash Station
An emergency eyewash station must be located near the charging place. The path to the station must not be blocked and an employee who is injured must be able to go to the eyewash post from the charging area within 10 seconds while walking.
Charger Safety
The charger and battery should be at the same amperage. It must be turned off while the battery is being plugged in.
Open Flames
