Narrow Aisle Lift trucks
There are especially made lift trucks which operate in narrow warehouse aisles. These equipment are normally referred to as vary narrow aisle or narrow aisle forklifts. They can negotiate smaller aisles with ease and allow you to enjoy some benefits. For example, the increased amount of area to store things could significantly increase the overall available inventory of a company.
Narrow aisle forklifts are able to maneuver easily as well. These machinery have been specially engineered to move without a lot of space. Their unique design has eliminated a lot of the items that are squished up into the main body of the conventional lift truck design.
The downside of narrow aisle lift trucks is that they are really slow compared to standard lift trucks. Narrow aisle forklifts would not work if you have to transport objects across long distances. In terms of speed they will not be a reliable choice. If you also have a regular forklift, this would not be an issue. You could just utilize the narrow aisle lift truck to move the load to a central site and then hand it off to a regular lift truck which could travel the bulk of the distance in a timely and efficient way. Commonly, narrow aisle lift trucks cannot handle as much lifting weight; therefore, outside of smaller loads they are not going to be really effective.
Electric Forklifts
For indoor operations like stores or inside warehouses, conventional gas lift trucks are not a suitable option. They would not be as safe due to their fumes, or as cost-efficient or useful than an electric powered model. Electric lift trucks are usually engineered to look and work a lot like gas ones, but they utilize electric batteries that should be recharged, instead of gasoline fuel.
The electrically powered lift truck has become more common and for a range of reasons. These equipment can help companies save costs on fuel. Electric models will initially cost more, but would ultimately save you more over time. For instance, when gas prices go up, you would not be affected and will save a lot of cash. Electric models tend to last somewhat a bit longer than gas powered models as well. This is partly due to the fact they are mainly used inside and thus don't get as dirty or work in as harsh settings as the gas powered ones. Electric units are healthier to use in places which are poorly ventilated such as indoor applications and warehouses since they don't emit noxious fumes. It can be really dangerous to use gas or diesel forklifts inside.
The electric lift truck does have some downsides like the fact that they could really only work for around 8 hours. Afterward the machinery will need to be charged for 8 hours and rested for another 8 hours. A lot of businesses get around this condition by buying an extra battery so they can have less downtime and continually cycle them. There are fast charge batteries available on the market that are also reducing the charging time.
