Forklift Tire Specs
Forklifts have been an important device within commercial businesses and industry ever since 1917. Throughout its history the forklift has evolved through various forms, from a tractor with a platform attachment to a specialized high-tech machinery. Forklift tires have also evolved into specialized tires, with various types designed to meet specific applications.
Cushion (Solid) Tires
A cushion tire is made of rubber or solid polyurethane and is suitable for indoor applications on smooth surfaces. The cushion tire tread is bonded or pressed onto the tire's steel ring. Cushion tires are rated ease of steering and for various load capacities. Cushion tires are normally used in warehouse atmosphere.
Pneumatic Tires
Air or foam is utilized to fill pneumatic forklift tires. They are offered in two types: bias or radial. Depending upon the use, they come with different sidewall protection, tread depths and weight. Pneumatic forklift tires which are filled with foam maintain constant pressures and are less susceptible to punctures. Pneumatic tires are commonly used outdoors on rough, uneven surfaces.
Pneumatic Shaped Solid/Solid Pneumatic
Solid Pneumatic Hybrid tires combine the comfortable ride of a pneumatic tire with the puncture resistance of a solid tire. They are an alternative to the outdoor pneumatic tire.
Large Rubber and Flotation Tires
Big rubber tires, that could either be solid, pneumatic or foam, are utilized on wheel loader forklifts. These tires are suitable for moving and loading heavy items into processing machines or onto trucks. Big flotation pneumatic tires are best for masted rough terrain forklifts normally utilized at construction locations, automobile recyclers and lumberyards.
