Types of Aisles
Wide Aisle and Narrow Aisle lift trucks are classed due to the kinds of aisles they have been designed to operate in. These equipments can turn in an aisle, whereas Very Narrow Aisle trucks really don't turn within the aisle. There are several aisle widths to consider with different models.
Very Narrow Aisle trucks could operate in less than 6 feet areas, while several would utilize specific guidance systems such as wire, optical or rail systems in order to travel within the aisles. Several different models of VNA trucks comprise Swing Masts, Order Selectors and Turret Trucks. These are popular models in tight retail spaces and in some warehouse and storage situations.
Narrow Aisle trucks could work in aisles from 8 feet to 10 feet wide. Normally these are stand-up models such as Reach Trucks. They are commonly utilized within storage facilities and warehouses.
Wide Aisle Standard forklifts fall into this truck category and are designed to work within aisles which are more than 11 feet wide.
Stand-Up Ergonomics
The "Ergomat" padding on stand-up units provide padding on a sloped floorboard. These features are made to reduce operator exhaustion by absorbing vibration. The compartment for the driver is very big and has an 8" low step height that helps reduce overall body exhaustion by easing frequent exit and entry. The unit consists of polyurethane steer tires to absorb shocks and vibration caused by uneven floor in order to allow smooth traveling. For added comfort, there is a floor mat and a cushioned armrest together with a backrest designed to help keep drivers comfortable and therefore more effective while limiting exhaustion.
