Reach Truck
To be able to keep storage places orderly and to store pallets of goods and supplies, a reach truck can be utilized. The reach truck comes in several kinds: the double-deep reach, straddle reach and the stand-up reach.
The stand-up is the most basic. The forks of the truck slide under the pallet and move it to the right storage location. The forks slide the pallet into position. This type of reach truck is suitable when shelving units are just one pallet in depth.
Best for workplaces where the shelving units are deep enough to accommodate two pallets of goods, the double-deep reach truck, that is like the stand-up, is commonly used. This particular model has telescopic forks designed to position the pallet at the back of the shelving unit. This saves having to push the pallet back when one more pallet should go into the same shelving section.
The additional advantage of straddle reaches is that they can both slide underneath the pallet and grasp the sides also. These are suitable for workplaces where shelving units could be accessed in many directions. This model is best in situations where goods will not be damaged if the pallet sides are grabbed.
In nearly all warehouses, there are normally more than one type of reach truck. Manufacturing facilities and textile firms use various kinds of reach trucks in their supply areas. The reach truck is not difficult to use and can make the most of available storage space while increasing production.
